Coming soon! Julie’s Bicycle will be in Leeuwarden for the CCL Policy Lab

This week, Julie’s Bicycle will be joining On The Move to host a policy lab for cultural leaders and city influencers on how they can engage arts and culture with action on climate and the environment.

The policy lab - titled ‘Cities, culture and climate change practises, models and future actions’ - will include a variety of inspirational talks from cultural leaders, as well as a practical workshop designed for city representatives, influencers and policy-makers. Participants will learn from a variety of international good practice examples, demonstrating the low-carbon cultural economy as a driver for civic engagement, cultural diplomacy and innovation in urban development. Participants will get the chance to share and troubleshoot their own experiences, ideas and challenges and will get the opportunity to conduct an initial analysis of their own cities and practices, considering opportunities for scaling successful initiatives and developing new approaches and partnerships.

We’re excited to be joined by representatives of European Capitals of Culture and the UCLG network; representatives of festivals and artists - particularly those based in the Netherlands like Oerol Festival and Welcome to the Village; and foundations and organisations like European Cultural Foundation and DutchCulture.

The policy lab is being led by On The Move, from 3 to 4 July, as part of the Creative Climate Leadership programme. It forms part of Leeuwarden-Friedland’s year of European Capital of Culture.

Creative Climate Leadership is co-funded by the Creative Europe programme of the European Union.

The project is coordinated by Julie's Bicycle (UK). Project partners are: PiNA (Slovenia), On The Move (France), COAL (France), Ars Baltica (Germany), krug (Montenegro), and EXIT Foundation (Serbia).
