Trust
The Julie’s Bicycle Trust is being established as an alternative to ‘carbon offsetting’, for companies who want to pay for their emissions but also make a direct contribution to carbon emissions reduction in their own industry and community, in a transparent, accountable and sustainable way.
The Trust will provide grants and loans to the parts of the UK music industry who have less resources to commit to the ‘greening’ of their businesses, for example community projects, small charities, creators, sole traders, social enterprises and start-up businesses – those organisations least able to meet the additional expense that significant carbon reduction can require.
The grants and loans will assist individuals and organisations to purchase equipment, expertise and research that enable them to reduce their carbon footprint.
Julie’s Bicycle advises that all possible actions and investment in carbon reduction is made on the part of the contributing company, before considering making an offset equivalent donation to the Julie’s Bicycle Trust. We also recognize that some individuals and companies might want to offset and invest in environmentally positive projects both in the UK and developing world and we can recommend offset companies with strong ethical and accountable practices.
