Green Theatre Guide

In September 2008, the Mayor of London launched a publication packed full of practical advice tailored to the theatre industry. The Green Theatre Plan demonstrates how theatres in London can reduce their carbon emissions by 60% by 2025.

The plan is for anyone working in the theatre industry, from small independent production companies and arts venues, to large groups of commercial theatres. This plan aims to guide you through some of the most practical and effective ways to reduce your energy use and make theatres greener - while also saving you money.

The guide originally included a spreadsheet carbon calculator for theatre productions which has been redeveloped as a simplified online tool. The IG Tool for Production was launched in April 2012 as part of our suite of IG Tools carbon calculators, and can be accessed for free online here.
