Live Nation fridges (Low Carbon Chilling)

In a pilot trial by Live Nation, the Edinburgh Playhouse & Lyceum Theatres ran trials to identify the financial and environmental impact of turning the bar fridges off using timers.

Originally both venues left the bar fridges on 24/7, for the trial they installed timers on the fridges and began turning them off at 10pm each night, and on again at 12 noon, to allow products to be chilled during operational hours. The Lyceum Theatre took an extra step by extending the hours the fridges were off to identify the minimum required cooling hours.

The trial showed that per year on average, each fridge would save 1.13 tonnes of CO2 and 2,142kWh. Financially on average, each fridge would save £150 per year.
