KB Event Ltd
KB Event remains the only BS 8555 accredited trucking company in the UK, certification which demonstrates they have integrated an environmental management system (EMS) into their business operations. According to KB Event Ltd representative Leanne McPhearson, tying in the EMS with the system they already had in place made commercial and ethical sense. As part of their ongoing and continual accreditation, KB Event have to keep up to date with environmental regulations and proposals.
Alongside this certification, they work towards ISO 14001, using only recognised lubricants, tyre and battery recycling, and ensuring the correct disposal of hazardous waste and replacement of harmful products. KB Event work alongside the Environment Agency, the local Council, the Fire Brigade and the STW to formulate an incident response in the event of an emergency on site which could lead to nearby pollution.
They have invested over £1 million on updating their fleet, including converting a number of their existing vehicles to meet requirements of the London Low Emissions Zone (LEZ). They have also replaced their larger trucks with the Euro 4 vehicles (the best available at the time), as well as investing in Exhaust Gas Recycling (EGR). This recycles the exhaust emitted by the vehicles and pumps into back into the vehicle to create further propulsion.
