Firefly Solar
Firefly Solar are one of the first companies within the UK to provide solar power generators to live music events. Created in 2007, with 12 festivals in their first year, they now go to approximately 50 festivals and outdoors live events each year, with 2010 seeing their generators in use at Glastonbury and Lovebox.
They have 6 systems in their fleet, which can meet the power needs for events up to a capacity of 5,000 people. The systems can be used standalone, or linked together to help with the news of different events.
Currently, Firefly Solar are looking into the use of lithium ion batteries – similar to those used in mobile phones – which are designed to be lightweight yet provide quality power. This will help the company in the transportation of the units.
