What a surprise … crop spraying harmful to humans

A High Court Judge in the UK has finally agreed with what many have long suspected. Rural dwellers are bring harmed by crop spraying with symptons running from flu like attacks, blistering and possible long term damage including cancers and Parkinsons disease. In a case brought Georgina Downes, 35, who lives in the countryside in West Sussex, Mr Justice Collins said that Ms Downes had produced ’solid evidence’ to show that residents suffered harm from chemicals used to kill pests and that the UK Government had failed to comply with European Directive provisions meant to protect rural communities from toxic spraying.  Ms Downes, who produced evidence linking spraying to chronic fatigue and asthma, pointed out that many countyside residents had faced multiple doses of harmful chemicals annually over decades saying “the fact that there has never been any assessment to the risk to the health for the long-term exposure for those who live, work or go to school near pesticide-sprayed fields is an absolute scandal considering that crop-spraying has been a predominant feature of agriculture for more than fifty years”.
