The Human Power Station – BBC Programme
A Bang Goes the Theory special event showing how much electricity we
use and abuse without even thinking about it.This massive experiment
attempts to power a house for an entire day solely through human pedal
power - while the unsuspecting family inside go about their normal
Sunday routine. Will they drive the Human Power Station to meltdown?

Waitrose makes sustainable palm oil pledge
Waitrose is to switch its own-brand foods to "sustainable" palm oil
in a move intended to help prevent deforestation, climate change and
other problems caused by the world's cheapest vegetable oil. See here

Amazon is best site for forest carbon investments
Deforestation is estimated to account for around 12% of the
greenhouse-gas emissions that cause climate change. The newly
developed Forest Carbon Index aims to help investors and policy-makers
choose between forests around the world to include in forest carbon
credit schemes. The study suggests that 85% of the best places for
forest carbon returns are in the greater Amazon, making the Amazon
nations the early winners in a future market for forest carbon
