The COAL Prize 2012 opens call to artists for "Rural" entries

Added on 28th Sep 2011

The COAL Prize for Art & Environment is awarded each year to a contemporary artist for work focussing on the environment. The winner is chosen by a jury of personalities from the worlds of contemporary art, research, ecology and sustainable development, out of 10 finalists selected from an international call for entries. In 2012, the COAL Prize will award entries that focus on rural issues and agriculture.

The COAL Prize helps foster a culture of ecology by supporting the vital role of culture and creation for taking stock and rolling out concrete solutions to environmental issues.

The Prize, worth 10,000 euros, was launched in 2010 by the French association the Coalition for Art and Sustainable Development (COAL). It comes under the auspices of the French Ministry of Culture and Communication, The French Ministry of Ecology and Sustainable Development, the National Centre of Fine Arts (CNAP), and enjoys the support of Le Laboratoire, PwC and a private benefactor.

The award ceremony for the COAL Prize 2012 will take place in March 2012 at Le Laboratoire, attended by finalists and personalities from the world of art and sustainable development.
