Press Release: Julie’s Bicycle to Host Key Panel at ILMC
Top Industry Executives Will be ‘Clearing the Air’ at Live Music Summit
Julie’s Bicycle, the not-for-profit organization working closely with the creative industries to make environmental sustainability a core component of their business operations, are hosting a major panel at this year’s International Live Music Conference (ILMC), which this year takes place between 11th-13th March in London.
The panel, entitled ‘The Green Room - Clearing the Air’, will take place at 10am on Saturday 11th March at the Royal Gardens Hotel in Kensington, London and will be moderated by BPI Chairman Tony Wadsworth who is also the Chairman of Julie’s bicycle.
Joining Tony Wadsworth on the panel will be:
- Alison Tickell Director, Julie's Bicycle, UK
- Eric Van Eerdenburg Director, Lowlands Festival, Netherlands
- Geoff Huckstep CEO, Capital FM Arena Nottingham, UK
- Jacob Bilabel Director, Green Music Initiative, Germany
- John Leahy Director, Instrumental Consultancy, UK
The ‘Green Room - Clearing the Air’ panel will examine the mushrooming of green activity within the international live music community and how these initiatives are not only going a long way towards promoting environmental sustainability but also saving the industry significant amounts of money.
Tony Wadsworth, Chairman of Julie’s Bicycle said, “We are currently at a crossroads in the music industry in our response to climate change. A quiet revolution has been taking place in the way the music industry deals with its environmental issues, and this approach is gearing up to go mainstream. Julie's Bicycle conservatively estimates that by 2015 over £34 million could be saved across music and theatre in energy efficiencies alone. The live music industry is a key focus for our efforts and we are already seeing the emergence of a huge range of initiatives across the UK and beyond in this sector. This ILMC is an important forum for debating the key issues affecting the live music industry and the ‘Green Room-Clearing the Air’ panel will be aiming to put some of these major topics on the table for discussion.”
