Touring

In June 2010 we launched the most in-depth research on the carbon impacts of touring bands, orchestras and theatre. The research, Moving Arts, is available in three volumes and is led by a detailed set of recommendations and a new on-line tool, the IG Tool for Touring, for measuring carbon emissions before and after a tour.

Since then we have been working with all parts of the touring supply chain – bands and artists, managers, promoters, agents, venues, tour production, producers, suppliers – to green their activities. 

We have also launched a pilot programme for the Julie's Bicycle Green Riders, for touring theatre companies and artists, and bands to present to host venues and festivals. These riders help create industry change by showing that artists are taking their environmental impacts seriously on tour, and are making asks of the touring infrastructure to do the same.
