Welcome

Julie’s Bicycle is a not for profit company established to find ways to reduce the UK music industry’s greenhouse gas emissions. We are working with science and industry to find achievable and effective solutions for the music industry and beyond.

The impact of CD packaging

Our Working Parties will be assessing the detailed carbon implications of a number of industry functions – and top of the list is CDs. We have commissioned research from Ove Arup into the carbon implications of CD packaging and business.
The Working Party overseeing this study – as far as we know the first of its kind to be conducted by the music industry in any market worldwide – is chaired by Tony Wadsworth, Chairman of BPI formerly EMI, with input also from the majors and some independents. The research will be complete by the end of summer and we will be launching it shortly afterwards.
